Residents Near JIS Evicted Complaints Compensation Money: Not As Promised

Sin (59), a resident who occupies a semi-permanent building or bunk, near the rail line near the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), admitted that the compensation money received for the demolition of the building was not appropriate. 

According to him, the provision of money to replace the beds that were dismantled by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) was also not transparent. 

"The problem of distributing compensation money is not clear. In my opinion, as the owner here, the distribution of compensation is not appropriate," said Sin to http://Kompas.com at the demolition site, Tuesday (11/10/2022). 

When found, Sin was wielding a hammer to destroy the semi-permanent building he had lived in for more than 20 years. 

The woman said she was ready if there was an eviction of the land. However, he is still questioning the provision of compensation money from the government. 

"We also don't know, we don't understand where the distribution of compensation comes from," said Sin. 

"But when my son met in Ancol, judging from the size of the building. At first (calculated) per door, it was different again," he continued. 

The same thing was also expressed by a resident named Zeva Siahaan (33), who felt that the compensation money was not in accordance with the agreement. 

"I myself don't agree because the funds given are small, only Rp. 2.9 million, not in accordance with what the Minister of PUPR promised at that time. Then the urban village is also not transparent," explained Zeva. 

At first, he learned about the eviction information when he came to an invitation from the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono at the Ancol Hotel, North Jakarta in March 2022.
