*THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR* Before Islam, different renent nations adopted different calendars to discribe events sequence and to derive commercial benefits. 1) The kings of Iran used to start the new calendar from the day of succession. 2) The Roman's calendar started from the first day of Alexander as their king. 3) A- The descendants of Sayyidina Ismail عليه السلام (Arabs) adopted their calendar, when Namrud put Sayyidina Ebrahim عليه السلام in the fire. B- They later on took the day of the inception of the Ka'bah as their calendar. C- Then they started reckoning their days with the death of Sayyidina Ka'ab bin Luayy (fore father of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم) D- Then they adopted the calendar when Abraha wanted to distroy the Ka'bah with the Elephants so it became known as the "year of the Elephant" .
