Viral, uploads of Pertalite RON 90 Tested with only 86 tools, this is what Pertamina and experts say

"Accurate RON testing tools must refer to standard methods such as the ASTM RON method," explained Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Irto Ginting, when contacted by Kompas.com, Saturday (8/10/2022). 

He explained that through standard methods such as ASTM Ron, all tests can be validated and the tools used are always calibrated. 

Regarding the image of the viral tool used to test it, Irto said, his party could not confirm what tool was used. 

However, he said, if what is in the picture is an Octane Analyzer Portable, then the tool should have been proven to have been calibrated. 

"If the tool used is an Octane Analyzer Portable, the tool must also be proven to have been calibrated using certified reference materials on a regular basis," he said. 

His party emphasized that the Research and Development Institute for the Oil and Gas Industry (Lemigas) had conducted tests on Pertalite. 

The test is to test 6 samples of Pertalite at gas stations in the Jakarta area. 

From these tests, all samples showed the results or specs of Pertalite were still in accordance with the provisions. 

“All samples show that the results or specifications of Pertalite are still in accordance with the provisions of the Director General of Oil and Gas No. 0486.K/10/DJM.S/2017 concerning Standards and Quality (Specifications) of RON 90 Gasoline Fuel Types Marketed Domestically," he explained.
