Intelligence Doesn't Guarantee Safe From Misguidance !! 

Many people are stupid, he is aware of his stupidity, so Allah gives him guidance (to seek knowledge) so he becomes the survivors. 

So be careful...!! Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taimiyah الله said:

الرجل اء الناس ا الأشياء لد الناس نظرًا لما اختلف الحق لا ل لا لا . اتكل لى واستدلاله أو له ل

“Sometimes, the most intelligent and sharp-sighted people are not able to see at the clearest things. On the other hand, sometimes there are people who are the most stupid and weak in sight, but Allah guides them to the truth in matters that people dispute, with Allah's permission. So, there is no power and strength except from Allah. Whoever relies on his views, ability to reason, intelligence, and knowledge, he will be left (not given taufik)." (Dar'u Ta'arudhil 'Aqli wan Naqli)

He الله also said about people who go astray:

ا اءً ا ا اءً، ا ا ا ا لومًا ا ا ارًا ا لَا ارُهُمْ لَا انُوا ا ا ا ا

“They were given intelligence but not given chastity. They are given understanding but not given knowledge. They were given hearing, sight, and heart, but their hearing, sight, and heart were of no use, when they rejected the signs of Allah and fixed for them what they ridiculed." (Al Fatwa Al Hamawiyah)--
