Gembira Gembrong Village Implements "Zero Run Off", Anies Says Rainwater Will Be Absorbed To The Ground
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the Pasar Gembrong settlement at RW 001 Cipinang Besar Utara, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Friday (7/10/2022) afternoon.
The settlement which is now called "Kampung Gembira Gembrong" was previously burned on April 25, 2022.
Anies said that Gembira Gembrong Village applies the zero run off concept that can control rainwater on site.
"This is the first village in Jakarta to implement zero run off. It means that rainwater in that area is not drained out, but absorbed into the ground," said Anies at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, Saturday (8/10/2022).
According to Anies, rainwater will be absorbed in 16 infiltration wells scattered at several points in Gembira Gembrong Village.
Thus, the village will not drain abundant water outside the area.
"This is a settlement with house units designed to be spaced apart designed as a unit. This village is on the bank of the river and behind the river cannot take water from the river, now it is converted into a water front village," said Anies.
Previously, Anies accompanied by his wife, Ferry Farhati, and East Jakarta Mayor M Anwar inaugurated the village on Friday afternoon.
Anies said that there were 138 houses built on the site. The residence has a two-story building with toilets and a communal septic tank.
Anies asked the community to take good care of the environment of Kampung Gembira Gembrong.
"Take care of this place, not only physically, but also the brotherhood. From cleanliness to tidiness," he said.
