AHY: We Don't Compare, But People Live Better Led by SBY

The General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) mentioned the good chances of the Democratic Party ahead of 2024. AHY spoke about the better condition of society under the leadership of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). 

"There is a good opportunity for the Democratic Party, God willing, along with the increase in the electability of the Democratic Party by survey institutions both at the national level, both especially in DKI Jakarta as previously reported by the DPD chairman," said AHY at the inauguration ceremony for the DPC and DPAC Democrats throughout DKI. Jakarta at GOR Ciracas, East Jakarta, Tuesday (11/10/2022). 

AHY hopes that the gains of the Democratic Party in the legislative election will increase. Including when party cadres can become candidates in the upcoming 2024 elections. 

"We are also making efforts, trying our best, hopefully a coalition will be built and finally the Democrat Party cadres can participate as candidates in the 2024 presidential election. It is not power that we are after, but we want to bring about changes and improvements," he said. 

AHY then mentioned that the life of the Indonesian people is currently difficult. He compared the condition of the people under SBY's leadership to the previous government. 

"The life of our people today is not better than before, right? Life is getting more difficult, we don't want to compare when Indonesia was led by President SBY and when the Democratic Party was in the national government," said AHY. 

"But the fact is that at that time the Indonesian people lived better, more prosperously, poverty decreased at that time. Right? Unemployment decreased at that time, now here and there our people live difficult lives not only on the island of Java but throughout Indonesia," he continued.
