DOES HIGH ACADEMIC VALUES DO NOT GUARANTEE SOMEONE'S SUCCESS???
According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), the definition of success is:
success/success/ /success/ (a) : successful; lucky:
succeed/success/success/(v) make successful; make lucky:
success/success/ (and) success; luck:
When approaching the school exam period, many say HIGH SCORE IN SCHOOL DOES NOT GUARANTEE SOMEONE'S SUCCESS OR SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.
Is that right? At first glance it is true, but it is not correct because success is a journey not the end result. Something called success in the past may not necessarily be a measure of success now or in the future.
Example :
1. A baby aged 10 months who can walk then the baby has experienced success. When the age of 3 years can walk is no longer a measure of success.
2. A grade VI SD/MI child who passes the exam is said to be successful. But passing the SD/MI exam can no longer be used when he graduates from college because the measure of success after graduating from college is getting a job.
3. A successful married couple is said to be successful, but the measure of successful marriage cannot be used again when the couple has not had children for years.
High scores in school are a measure of the achievement of success when someone is studying at school, so someone who is in school is called successful if he gets high scores. A person who is studying but gets a low score can be said to be "not successful" in his studies.
A high score when going to school is one indicator of success in school, and a high score cannot be an indicator of success when the person has graduated or is an adult. Indicators of success when you have graduated from study will be different again, because success is a continuous achievement, not a final result.
After all, the measure of success for each person can be different. Traders are successful when their merchandise is selling well, officials are successful when they reach a high position, parents are successful when their children are successful, candidates are successful when elected, farmers are successful when the harvest is abundant, sick people feel successful after recovering.
Success is very relative and subjective, TRUE SUCCESS IS WHEN WE HAVE ENTERED HEAVEN.
Many experts convey the requirements for success that can be summarized in a term Winning Characteristic, which includes Discipline, Motivation / Initiative, Confidence, Creativity, Communication Skills, Honesty / Integrity, Ability to Work Together, Interpersonal Ability, Ethics,Adaptability, Organizational Ability, Leadership, Friendly, Polite and Courteous, Wise, Entrepreneurial Ability.
From the various conditions for success as stated by these experts, I can summarize the conditions for success as follows:
1. Strong aqidah: have a strong back and purpose in life.
2. Straight worship: having the right religious knowledge.
3. Good morals: good personality character
4. Have scientific competence: mastering science and technology, can speak foreign languages, proficient in IT, and other life skills.
5. Leadership: able to influence other people and their environment.
6. Love for the homeland and nationalism: useful for society and the country.
Thus it is TRUE that high grades in school do not guarantee future success because high grades are an indicator of a person's success while studying. To get a high score, one must have a Winning Characteristic, and that superior character is also needed when one wants to be successful in the future.
A person who does not have superior character is unlikely to get high marks in school, only those who have Winning Character will get high marks in school... ., so that high grades in school are still important because high grades are an indicator of the success of someone who is currently studying.
